REWITEC® on the 2-disc test bench

The Centre of Excellence for Tribology at the University of Mannheim used the two-disc test rig to investigate the friction and wear behaviour of materials and coatings, as well as the properties of lubricants under rolling and rolling-contact loads. Thanks to this state-of-the-art testing method, data (e.g. friction torque) can be recorded continuously in digital form. Furthermore, it is possible to determine mass-based wear by weighing.

Scientific study using Castrol X320

  • The red graph is without REWITEC®
  • The blue graph is from REWITEC® added after about 20 hours
  • The green graph is by REWITEC® from the very beginning
  • Up to 46% less surface roughness
  • Up to 22% less frictional force

Scientific study using AGIP SX320

REWITEC coating: a before-and-after comparison – SEM images following the long-term test

The studies confirm:

20% lower temperature

20 % lower temperature
in gearboxes and bearings*

33 %: reduced friction in gearboxes and bearings

33 % less friction
in gearboxes and bearings*

50 % less surface roughness on metal surfaces

50 % less roughness
